Monty Panesar to win 'Beard of the Yaer' 2009 - 2pst - 16/1 - Bluesq

The 'Beard of the Year' award is made by the Beard Liberation Front:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beard_Liberation_Front

Monty Panesar has a good record in this event and could be due a possible win in BOTY. He won this award in 2006 and finished Top 3 in 2007. Interestingly, a cricketer also won this award in 2004/5 - there is probably an overlap between followers of cricket and voters in this event. Cricket has not been especially high profile this year, but there are no obvious other front runners I can think off.

I would make Panesar an approx 5/1 chance to win this award (although it is a difficult to market to judge). I've had 2pts at 16/1 with BlueSq.

There are 2 others I think are worth bets with Blue Square Chris. The best is The Stone Roses to reform. Been in the press this week. Is 20 years since the debut album next year. Mani quoted as saying it will happen. Has always been a case of talking round Ian Brown. Been that way for a few years. Would think this is an odds on shot so 7/1 is absolutely massive.
Again, know its been in the press this weekend but can see Kelly Brook & Danny Cipriani getting wed and, if they are, then probably this summer. Not saying they aren't smitten with each other but there's masive cash out there for them if they want to become the next celeb couple. Why not take it? They would't be the first. She's not got many places to go career wise and, regardless of how his rugby craeer is faring, he was raised by his mum and so will appreciate being financially secure asap. 33/1 is well worth a stab, especially when the Stone Roses bet is basically paying for it.
Best of luck in 09.

Both of those interested me when I looked at these specials.

I think that The Stone Roses reforming should be an approx 3/1 shot. The money is there, but In Brown has said he is not interested... but he might be persuaded....

I think the Brook/Capriani marriage at 33/1 is also a good bet. According to press reports Brook is interested, although the younger Capriani remains to be persuaded - I think the money from OK magazine (probably £1m+) might tip the balance. I'd make it an approx 8/1 chance.

I'm going to have 2pts on each (plus 2pts on The Smiths re-forming at 5/1)

I agree with those bets but also thought that 11/4 on 0% interest rates seemed pretty generous; any thoughts?

I did consider the 0% bet, but for 'technical reasons' I think that the Interest Rates will stay just above 0% (if they wan't to reduce to 0%). I may be wrong....

I think the Tote to be sold @ 20/1 is good....the government were looking at selling it but postponed it due to the reduction in price they would get. However, with them basically being bankrupt and selling off as much as possible, I think the 20/1 is too big.

Stan James and Bet Direct (as they're the same company) have a price for the number of 147's in ranking snooker events of 5/2 - should arguably be odds on given recent history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highest_snooker_break
(most of these are ranking events). Agree with Stone Roses, Tote and share concern about whether interest rates actually go to zero but if you could get some clarification would be on it. Last year BoyleSports had 6/1 that there would be no interest rate hikes in 2008 just three days before I get paid out on that. Also a general election in 2009 at 5/2 is an 8% arb with Ladbrokes 4/7 in 2010.

Hi Chris,
Apologies - stan james mean two 147's in a single event during 2009. Not such good odds but a very badly phrased market
