subject Account Closure
mailed-by galacoral.com

Dear Mr Trinder

I am writing to advise you that your account with Coral.co.uk has been closed. As of now, no further bets can be accepted and and any recorded in error will be decarled void, win or lose. This decision has been taken purely for commercial reasons.

In the event of you placing a bet indirectly with Coral.co.uk in the future, we will reserve the right to void your bet.

Any funds currently in your balance have now been sent back to your registered card. Any outstanding Ante Post bets will be settled upon their maturity and any subsequent funds won will be sent back to your registered card.

Kind Regards

Terry

Speaking as a former Coral employee, I am amazed at this email. They are supposed to be our 3rd largest bookie, not some gutless outfit who can't take a bet for 'commercial reasons'. They should be suspending their odds compilers, rather than suspending you.
Do they also have a photo of you in the shop on the high street?

This is all too common for successful punters these days (a few decent returns and they ban you). Betfair is fast becoming the only option when placing serious wagers...keep up the excellent tips though Chris, you have done a sterling job this year.

Dear Mr Trinder

You are much cleverer than we are...

It seems they are not heeding the generally accepted advise of not betting with money you can't afford to lose!

Like all winners mate, you will find a way.

Hopefully the day will come when I'm in a position to warrant an account closure.

Of course, my mother can expect a phone call when that time comes, as she'll be registering on my behalf!

There are ways around such closures and limits, of course. Not that it's exactly within the rules, but then we hardly bet on a level playing ground anyway.

Coral are the best bookie around for laying a bet imho, and if he's just taken them for five figures on Button/Brawn can you really blame them?!

I wish it took five figures single wins to warrant account closures/pathetic limits with every firm.

They're streets ahead of tinpot bookies like Boylesports, Stan James, Sportingbet and Sky, that won't lay £50 on a 2/1 shot if you've proven that you're not a complete clown.

To be honest, Chris, I'm surprised this hasn't happened to you before.

Out of order, surly they realise the potential risks when they calculate there odds. You shouldn't get punished for their poor research.

This is actually quite surprising. I thought bookmakers stopped closing accounts years ago and just 'closed' them by restricting them to pennies as it was bad PR. I suspect this is a sign of the hard economic times.

Atleast they are not internet only so you can still bet in their shops.

It's getting more difficult recently because bookies are under pressure. Lad and WH both with rights issues, Coral problems managing their debt.

I've had 15 accounts closed over the years including Coral three times. Coral was a while ago though at the turn of the centuary. I have a net and phone acc with them now but heavily restricted (moving house helped!).

Don't give up though - I'm sure you'll find ways of getting on!

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO BE A WINNING PUNTER AND NOT HAVE ACCOUNTS CLOSED. IS THE ANSWER LOTS OF SMALL BETS SAY £5 OR £10 TO TRY AND PRETEND TO BE YOUR AVERAGE MUG,OR WHAT ?

Does anyone know how to be a winning punter and not get closed down. Is the answer to place lots of small bets ( not more than £10)to try and give the impression that one is an "ordinary" punter, rather than a selective "shrewdie" , or what ?

It all depends on what your aim is. If you're in it for profit, then you're just going to have to work around any limits or closures.

The fact is, if you bet fairly big, take value for big payouts, and are successful then you'll get limited after a while because they will notice you one day.

If you can use a card with different details (such as a joint account opened with a family member) then you can get around closures. You can even register with a different address and the same card, and you'll not get found out most of the time.

Stan James allow me to win £10 while with Bet365 I can place £2max.I've sent an e-mail to asa.org (advertising standards authority) about false advertising of 365."Keep finding those winners and we will give you free bets.."
I know nothing will come of it but it didn't take me long.
